FEEDING THE WORLD’S POOREST CHILDREN
Our house charity Mary’s Meals was founded in 2002 by Magnus Macfarlane - Barrow and now feeds nearly 2 million children every day in 19 countries across the world in their place of education. Millions of children miss out on education because of extreme poverty but by providing one good meal each day at school more and more of the worlds poorest children are being given an opportunity to learn and to escape the long term trap of poverty. The food is sourced locally wherever possible and served by volunteers from the local community creating lovely partnerships.
The inspiring story of the charity can be read in ‘The Shed that Fed a Million Children’ and there are some wonderful films about their work including ‘Child 31’ and ‘Generation Hope’ If you would like a copy of the book or a CD of the films contact lynnechitty50@gmail.com or janetaylor@millhouseretreats.co.uk
